Ubuntu has indeed been good PDF viewer in the main repository (eg xpdf and Evince ), the certainty that a PDF is shown as provided you have but only with the Adobe (Acrobat) Reader . This is due in large part, to the 14 built-in PostScript font styles of the Adobe Reader.
The English version (approx. 23 MB) can be installed directly on the package manager to Ubuntu 6.06: Source package
multiverse
* Package name acroread
After installation is the instant messaging Adobe Reader menu • Office applications .
A German version (approx. 47 MB) can be considered. Tar.gz archive will be downloaded directly from Adobe. Debian / Ubuntu is Adobe not mentioned in the system requirements as a supported system, I ran the installation of the German Readers (on Ubuntu 6.06.1) won easily. More information on installing a German Adobe Reader can be found at wiki.ubuntuusers.de / Adobe_Reader .
about alternative PDF viewers can be found at wiki.ubuntuusers.de / PDF .
